Developed exclusively for the African market, the Dawn 125 is powered by the same 124.7cc mill that powers the Super Splendor in India

The Milan Motorcycle Show or EICMA is one of the biggest trade shows that is held every year in Milan, Italy. Not missing out on such a grand event, world’s largest two-wheeler manufacturer, Hero MotoCorp, has showcased a new motorcycle at the event. Christened as the ‘Dawn 125’, the bike was unveiled by Pawan Munjal, chairman, managing director & chief executive officer, Hero MotoCorp, at the event.

Designed and developed specifically for the African market, the Dawn 125 is a part of the company’s market-specific product strategy. Aimed at the commercial segment, special attention has been given to the utility requirements of customers such as strength, durability and fuel efficiency.

In terms of design, the Dawn 125 shares the fuel tank, body panels and alloy wheels with the Super Splendor sold in India. It gets a big, circular headlamp with a chrome bezel and a metallic front fender. It also features an elongated seat with a wide carrier at the back and extended footrests.

The Hero MotoCorp Dawn 125 has a 124.7cc air-cooled, 4-stroke OHC, single-cylinder motor that also does duty in the Super Splendor. Power figures are rated at 9.13PS of max power and 10.35Nm of peak torque. However, Hero MotoCorp’s i3S system does not feature on the Dawn 125, in order to, perhaps, keep the costs low.

The new Dawn 125 is already available in the African market across major dealerships including countries like Kenya, Uganda, Ethiopia, Tanzania and Mozambique among others.
