Bangalore to Nepal on an ELECTRIC motorcycle?!

Quick Highlights:

  • Harish has completed his journey from Bangalore to Nepal on the F77 Mach 2

  • Covered over 15 cities in just 6 days and is not done yet!

  • One of the most challenging journeys of the F77 Mach 2 till date

Whenever we talk about touring on a motorcycle, doing it on an electric bike is the last thing on our minds. The challenge of having charging spots across the journey, facing range anxiety and having a reliable motorcycle are few of the many questions which cross our minds. This is exactly what Harish Surampade, a Bangalore resident, proved wrong with doing a solo international trip on his Ultraviolette F77 Mach 2.

His journey started from Bangalore on the 24th of December 2024 and has covered over 15 cities in just 6 days which include the likes of Thindivanam, Chennai, Nellore, Vijayawada, Vizag, Bhubaneswar, Balasore, Kharagpur, Kolkata, Krishnanagar, Malda, Krishnaganj and finally reached the India-Nepal border in Panitanki. After having another halt at Itari, Harish finally reached Kathmandu on the 31st of December.

Upon being asked as to why he chose to do an international trip on an electric motorcycle, Harish replied by saying that he loved long distance solo travelling and have always wanted to do it on an unique vehicle. This is the reason he chose the Ultraviolette F77 Mach 2 to be his companion on this long electrifying journey as it does have a claimed range of 323km in Indian Driving Conditions.

Even with the long claimed range, the journey was something which Harish had to plan carefully. To solve the charging problem, Harish carried a 3kW boost charger with him and charged his motorcycle at all possible locations on highways which included 2W/4W EV showrooms, garages, hotels, food courts and more. All he needed was a 16A socket and he was good to go.

When it comes to servicing, Harish serviced his motorcycle regularly at all the Ultraviolette service stations he encountered on his way to Nepal to keep his ride in immaculate condition. Once he reached Nepal, he mentioned that he did not face any kind of drop in performance even though having ridden on the highest roads in the world and through tough challenging terrains. Harish mentions, the performance remains the same as the Day-1 of the motorcycle.

The Ultraviolette F77 Mach 2 is priced from Rs 2,99,999 up to Rs 3,99,999 for the top Recon variant (both prices ex-showroom, Bangalore). What Harish has done is proved all those people wrong who doubt whether they can tour on an electric motorcycle. The journey has been quite an amazing one to say the least which not only shows the capacity of an Indian electric motorcycle but also the evergrowing charging infrastructure of the nation which allows such journeys to happen.
