Since its inception in 1994, we haven’t seen any major update in the design of India’s number one two-wheeler, Splendor. However, the 2016 Hero MotoCorp Splendor Pro will look seriously different from the existing one. A test mule of the bike has been spotted testing, which looks almost like an all new motorcycle, but the chassis remains the same.
The 2016 Splendor Pro will feature an aerodynamic, angular headlight with bikini fairing and semi-transparent visor. It has a curvy fuel tank with newly designed side and rear panels, and a contoured seat. The bike also gets new clear lens indicators and revised tail lamp along with a refreshed analog console having ‘Splendor Pro’ logo inside. Other updates in the styling include new aluminum rear grab rail, ORVMs and exhaust muffler.
As we have mentioned above, the chassis of the 2016 Hero Splendor will not receive any update and the bike will retain the same 97.2cc horizontal engine, which powers the current version. However, the company could retune the engine for a better performance and fuel economy. In the existing Splendor Pro, the single-cylinder, air-cooled motor makes 8.25bhp of maximum power and a peak torque of 8.05Nm.
There is no change in the frame, the suspension set-up, the braking system and the alloy wheels of the upcoming Splendor will be same and we can expect that there would not be any change in the pricing as well. The new Hero Splendor could be launched during this festive season and its rivals will be the same i.e. Honda Dream Series, Bajaj Discover 100, TVS Star City Plus, Yamaha YBR 110, Suzuki Hayate and Mahindra Centuro Range.
