The new Gixxer SF is likely to command a premium of around Rs 5,000 over the current model

  • The new Gixxer SF shares its design language with its bigger cousin, the Gixxer 250.
  • It features a new LED headlamp, clip-on handlebars and split seats.
  • The upcoming Gixxer SF is expected to get a slightly more powerful engine.

Along with the hotly anticipated Gixxer SF 250, Suzuki will be launching the 2019 Gixxer SF on May 20. And ahead of its official launch, images of the new Suzuki motorcycle have been leaked online.

While the current Gixxer SF looks like a watered-down version of the GSX-R1000R, the new one has taken design cues from the upcoming Gixxer SF 250. Thanks to the revised fairing and new LED headlight, the 2019 Gixxer SF looks a lot sharper than the current model. It also features lower-set clip-on handlebars instead of the standard handlebar seen on the current model. Other notable changes include a new split seat, a reworked rear end, and an updated instrument cluster.

Mechanically, the 2019 Gixxer SF is likely to be the same as the current model. The 155cc air-cooled motor churns out 14.8PS of power and 14Nm of torque, and is paired to a five-speed gearbox.  We expect it to comply with the upcoming BS6 emission norms. The updated Gixxer SF is likely to feature the same suspension setup as the current Gixxer SF - a telescopic fork at the front and a monoshock at the rear. We have done a detailed report on the new Gixxer SF, which you can read over here

According to our sources, the 2019 Gixxer SF will command a premium of around Rs 5,000 over the current Gixxer SF-FI ABS variant, which retails at Rs 1.01 lakh (ex-showroom, Delhi). In terms of competition, the new Gixxer SF will go head to head with the newly launched Hero Xtreme 200S, which retails at Rs 98,500 (ex-showroom Delhi).

We are going to ride both the motorcycles at the Buddh International Circuit. So stay tuned to BikeDekho for our first ride report.
