A bigger engine, all-new chassis and more
It is no secret that Royal Enfield will be bringing the new and improved 2020 Classic 350 soon. The motorcycle was spied at least half a dozen times in the last few months. In case you’re finding it difficult to keep a track of all the development, here’s everything you need to know about the all-new Royal Enfield Classic 350
Might get a bigger engine!
Perhaps the biggest update here might come in the form of an all-new bigger capacity engine. From the spy images, we can see that the cylinder head on the motor appears to be bigger. This suggests that it might be a new unit with a displacement ranging from 350cc to 400cc. Even the engine casing here appears to be similar to that of the company’s 650cc motor.

Additionally, the gearbox casing on the left looks similar to the one seen on the Interceptor 650, suggesting that the motorcycle might share the same 6-speed transmission as its 650cc cousins. We also expect it to come with fuel injection, which will help it comply with the upcoming BS 6 norms.
Gets slightly revised underpinnings
The spy shots further reveal that the motorcycle packs an all-new double-cradle frame instead of the earlier downtube one. Along with it, the swingarm also appears to be slightly redesigned for better riding dynamics. Folks at RE have also placed the disc brakes on the right-side and the chain drive on the left. We suspect this was done to accommodate the bigger engine and drivetrain. Also missing here is the option of a kick start lever.
And a new instrument cluster
It also features a semi-digital instrument cluster with a small LCD display. We believe it could house rider aid information such as dual tripmeters, odometer readings, fuel gauge and perhaps even a clock.

The 2020 Classic 350 also gets a redesigned switchgear, which looks eerily similar to the one seen on the Royal Enfield Concept KX. For example, there are dials in place of buttons for a properly retro look. Even the engine kill switch on the right has been replaced with a dial. You’ll also notice the high/low/pass-beam combo switch on the left, has been replaced with a dial as well.
Doesn’t look that different from the current model
We won’t blame you for mistaking the new-gen Classic 350 with the outgoing model. It continues to sport the same trademark retro design the firm is known for. The only noticeable difference here is the sleeker-looking tail light section, which might house an LED unit this time around. Apart from it, the motorcycle also gets a split seat instead of a single-piece saddle.
Along with the Classic 350, the Chennai-based bikemaker is also working on updating its Thunderbird range. More on that here - 2020 Royal Enfield Thunderbird 350X Spied Testing
