The 125cc scooter gets new bodywork and premium features
- Yamaha sells the Cygnus-X scooter in Taiwan.
- Gets twin headlamps similar to NMax 155 scooter.
- New scooter to get a liquid-cooled 125cc motor.
The next-generation Yamaha Cygnus-X 125 was spotted testing in Taiwan. The premium 125cc scooter is sold there along with a few other South Asian countries. Apart from a sporty makeover, the Cygnus-X 125 also gets a new liquid-cooled 125cc motor.

While the current generation Cygnus-X 125 was styled as a premium scooter, the upcoming model gets a sporty bodywork. It gets twin LED headlamps and split LED tail lamps. It is expected to carry forward the blue-backlit instrument console as well. The current Cygnus-X gets a floorboard-mounted fuel tank that frees up 28 litres of underseat storage space. We expect this feature to be carried over in the upcoming scooter.

Another big update is in the powertrain department. In place of the air-cooled motor, the Cygnus-X 125 gets a 125cc liquid-cooled motor. While Yamaha has not released specifications, we expect the new motor to be shared with the NMax 125 which delivers 12.23PS and 11.7Nm. It is expected to use a CVT automatic transmission setup. The underpinnings appear to remain unchanged, though. So expect it to retain the older model’s telescopic fork and twin shock absorbers with disc brakes at both ends. Even the 12-inch alloy wheels with 110 / 70-12 front and 120 / 70-12 rear tyres seem to have been carried forward.
While the Cygnus-X 125 is not expected to launch in India anytime soon, Yamaha India has replaced its entire 113cc lineup with 125cc scooters that claim to offer better performance and fuel efficiency than their predecessors. The new BS6 lineup includes the Fascino 125, RayZR 125 and Ray ZR Street Rally 125.
