The American cruiser will arrive sooner than everyone anticipated
Barely a week after Indian Motorcycle announced the new Chief range, the American cruiser brand has now confirmed the updated Chief would come to India by the second quarter of 2021.
The new Indian Chief is available in three variants: Dark Horse, Bobber Dark Horse, and the Super Chief Limited. All three share the same 1890cc v-twin engine that belts out 162Nm at 3,200rpm. The motor is mated to a six-speed transmission. Indian Motorcycle has equipped the Chief with creature comforts like cruise control, three riding modes, keyless ignition, and a USB charger. Also, with the new 4-inch touchscreen console, navigation comes as standard.

Cosmetically, the three bikes are distinct and cater to a wider audience. The Dark Horse has undergone a massive styling overhaul, shedding the beefy appearance for a more chiselled yet old-school look.
The Bobber Dark Horse comes equipped with mini-ape hangers, 16-inch spoked rims, and forward-set footpegs. The Super Chief Limited is the more highway-friendly option, with a bigger and an easier-to-reach handlebar, a floorboard, and a wider and comfortable pillion seat.
The Indian Chief Dark Horse will arrive in India as a CBU (Completely Built Unit), so expect prices to start from Rs 22 lakh approx. Despite the new products coming in, Indian Motorcycle only has six dealerships across the country, which could make logistics a challenge.
