Suzuki is set to launch the latest version of its superbike, the 2021 Suzuki Hayabusa, in the country today. The motorcycle was unveiled globally in February this year, and its unofficial bookings in India had also started the same month.
The motorcycle is likely to be offered as a Completely Built Unit (CBU), so expect the bike to command a premium -- somewhere around Rs 20 lakh (ex-showroom). It’s the only rival to the Kawasaki Ninja ZX-14R, which is no longer available in India due to it not being BS6-compliant. That said, if mind-boggling numbers are the objective, then the Triumph Rocket 3 comes pretty close, thanks to its gargantuan 2,458cc (largest on a production motorcycle) inline-three engine churning out a massive 221Nm torque.
The 2021 version has been built to be a lot more manageable than the previous-generation Suzuki Hayabusa. Its BS6-compliant 1,340cc inline-four engine produces 190PS and 150Nm, 7PS and 5Nm less than its predecessor. While it is less powerful, it gets a new and comprehensive electronics suite, ensuring an easy ride. These include, among others, multi-level traction control, wheelie control, six-axis IMU, launch control, and six rider modes.
The motorcycle is suspended on an inverted front fork and rear monoshock, both from KYB and fully adjustable. It also gets new brakes in top-spec Brembo Stylema calipers holding the twin 320mm discs up front and a disc with a Nissin caliper at the rear.

Suzuki hasn’t tinkered with the iconic silhouette but made the motorcycle slightly more aggressive-looking. The bodywork looks sharper now, and the bike comes with an all-LED lighting system, a TFT display to show all the relevant information, and the trademark twin-pod analogue speedometer and tachometer.
