Ducati commenced its annual world premiere series with the debut of the new Multistrada V2. The smallest ADV from the Italian marque will now replace the Multistrada 950. The Multistrada V2 will be available in Standard and ‘S’ trims, just like its predecessor. If you thought this is merely a 950 with a different name, you wouldn’t be entirely wrong.
It would be fair to call the Ducati Multistrada 950 a sportbike on stilts, and with the new Multi V2, Borgo Panigale’s engineers have worked to make your ride a bit comfortable by making substantial changes to the ergonomics.

For starters, the seat has been redesigned and at 830mm, it now sits 10mm lower than the outgoing model. Ducati has also increased the seat-to-footpeg distance by 10mm for a natural, upright riding posture and added comfort during long rides in the saddle.
The baby Multistrada now stands at 199kg (dry), which is 5kg less than the Multistrada 950. This has been achieved by using new mirrors (lighter by 700gm), aluminum flanges for the front discs (shaves off 500gm) and new rims that are 1.7kg lighter.
But the major chunk of weight savings comes from the 937cc Testastretta engine. It now uses a lighter clutch assembly, gearbox and cam rods, making the unit 2kg lighter. Interestingly, in spite of being lighter, the Multistrada V2 produces 113PS at 9,000rpm and 94Nm at 6750rpm. While the power remains the same as its predecessor, the torque has dropped by 2Nm.
Rest of it is pretty much the same Multistrada 950 we know. So it gets the same 5-inch full-colour TFT display with smartphone connectivity for the ‘S’ variant, while the standard model comes with a LCD display. Even the 6-axis IMU-governed electronic suite has been carried over from the Ducati Multistrada 950.
The hardware comprises Ducati Skyhook semi-active suspension for the ‘S’ variant, while the standard model comes equipped with fully-adjustable units from Marzochhi. For braking, Ducati has employed twin 320mm discs up front paired with Brembo monoblocs, while the rear gets a 265mm disc. It continues to run on the 19/17-inch wheel setup.
In addition to goodies like cornering headlight, bi-directional quickshifter, cruise control, backlit handlebar controls, the ‘S’ variant gets an additional ‘Travel’ trim that adds panniers, heated grips and a centre stand.
Ducati has been bringing in all of its products to our shores, with the most recent one being the 2021 Monster. With the Multistrada 950 already on sale in India, we reckon Ducati will bring the Multistrada V2 in the first half of 2022.
