Apart from a bunch of important feature updates, it also gets a new hardcore variant
While we were expecting the launch of the Kawasaki Ninja ZX-4R, Team Green has surprised everyone by launching an updated version of the Ninja ZX-25R in Indonesia instead. And honestly, we aren’t disappointed.
While the ZX-25R had a delightfully old-school analogue tacho with a semi-digital console, the 2023 iteration of the quarter-litre supersport comes packed with a fully digital TFT instrument console and Bluetooth connectivity. While it already featured traction control, quickshifter, and two ride modes, the updated model gets a new track ride mode as well.
More importantly, Kawasaki has also introduced a new variant called the Ninja ZX-25RR for 2023. The ZX-25RR gets more premium underpinnings, including a fully adjustable Showa USD fork and a Showa BFRC monoshock suspension setup. It also comes wrapped in a special KRT livery, taking inspiration from the Ninja 650 and the Ninja 400.

The powertrain is unchanged – a mind-blowing 249.8cc inline-four engine, likely to make the same 51PS and 22.9Nm. That said, it already is the craziest quarter-litre bike, so no need to change what’s already pretty incredible. It does get a new, larger exhaust setup that slightly resembles the Ninja ZX-10R.
In terms of appearance, the Ninja ZX-25R retains the aggressive body design and sharp styling as its predecessor. However, the SE version gets two new colour variants called the Metallic Matte Graphene Steel Grey and Candy Permission Red. Both bikes look sportier than ever and stealthier than the previous models.
Summing up, these updates should make the ZX-25R even more formidable and versatile than before, and while we would love to see the Kawasaki Ninja ZX-25R in India, there is no way the supersport will head to our shores. Primarily because if it did, the pricing will be off the roof. Meanwhile, if you are looking for a multi-cylinder supersport, the Ninja 400 is the closest answer.
