Both bikes look even more aggressive and rugged, with more features and promising off-road capability
The upcoming 2024 KTM 390 Adventure has been spied testing again, alongside the off-road-focused 390 Enduro, likely to be called the KTM 390 Adventure R. Both bikes feature a really beefy and muscular design.
The spied KTM 390 Adventure features a rally design, and we have already seen it on the previously spotted test mule. It features a vertically stacked dual-projector headlight with LED DRLs (daytime running lights) similar to the KTM 390 Duke. It gets wide and long grab rails which may also serve as a mount for saddle bags. The spied bike has a TFT console which will offer smartphone connectivity and navigation. The bike was spotted with a contoured single-piece seat and was fitted with dual-sport Metzeler Tourance tyres.
We also got a clear look at the KTM 390 Adventure R which featured sleek bodywork and a typical dirtbike-like design. In the spy shots, we can see that the Enduro bike had a smaller headlight, raised handlebars, a flat and long single-piece seat without any grabrails, mid-set footpegs, all combining to offer an upright riding position. We didn’t get a clear view of the console, but it is likely to have a minimalistic LCD console, so you can focus on tackling those trails. The Enduro test bike featured different indicators than the 390 Adventure.
The 390 Adventure R bike was equipped with a WP long-travel inverted fork and adjustable monoshock. It also featured air claw footpegs with rubber inserts, the test bike was fitted with 21-inch front and 18-inch rear spoked wheels, wrapped with Reise Trail-R tyres.
Both bikes featured slim tail sections with a sleek LED taillight. However, it is disappointing to see underbelly exhausts on both bikes, which could restrict their off-road and water-wading capabilities. That said, we believe that KTM is using the underbelly exhaust only on the test bike, and the production bike will have side-mounted exhaust. Both bikes will feature the 399cc liquid-cooled single-cylinder engine from the 390 Duke that produces 44.86PS and 39Nm, but expect the engine to be tuned differently to suit the bike’s nature.

We expect the upcoming KTM 390 Adventure to be priced at around Rs 3.8 lakh, and the KTM 390 Adventure R to be priced lower than its sibling, at around Rs 3.6 lakh (both prices ex-showroom). Both bikes are expected to be showcased at EICMA 2024, with the launch likely to happen by the end of 2024 or early 2025.
