Hero MotoCorp has filed for the design trademark of the Xpulse 421 in India, giving us a clear look at what could be the brand's new flagship and most powerful bike yet.
Design
The XPulse 421 will have a completely new design compared to the smaller capacity Xpulse 200 4V and the upcoming Xpulse 210. The front-end will have a flatter headlight with a taller visor. The bike will have a more angular bodywork with large shrouds for the radiator, giving it a tough, adventure-ready look. The seat will be a single-piece unit and scooped, typical of ADV bikes.
Hardware
The design also shows handlebar guards, a tall fuel tank that tapers down toward the seat, a rack for a top box, and an underbelly protection pan. While the sketch does not show the exhaust, photos from EICMA 2024 suggest it will be a bulky unit, but Hero might slim it down for a more stylish finish.
Engine
The Xpulse 421 will be built on a new trellis frame, which will house a 421cc single-cylinder, liquid-cooled engine. This engine is expected to produce around 40-45PS, paired with a 6-speed gearbox.
Underpinnings and Features
On the tech side, the Xpulse 421 will likely come with all-LED lighting, a TFT display, smartphone connectivity, ride modes, adjustable ABS, and more. For suspension, it will have a long-travel inverted fork and a monoshock. The braking setup will include a petal disc at the front and a standard rear disc, both mounted on spoke wheels with block-pattern tyres. It will also have a 21-inch front wheel and an 18-inch rear wheel setup.
Expected Launch Date and Rivals
Hero is expected to launch the Xpulse 421 by mid-2025. Once launched, it will rival the Royal Enfield Himalayan 450, the BMW G 310 GS, the new KTM 390 Adventure, and the upcoming TVS Apache RTX 300.
