The X-Town 300i ABS is the most powerful scooter you can buy in India! Here are all the details about this maxi-scooter
22Kymco has launched the X-Town 300i ABS at Rs 2.3 lakh (on-road Delhi). This makes it the most expensive and most powerful scooter currently available in India. So what’s special about this scooter? Here’s everything you need to know about this new entrant:
Availability, pricing & rivals:
The X-Town 300i is priced at Rs 2.30 lakh (on-road Delhi) and will be available in the country from September 2019. Sure, its priced at a premium, but for that money you get a maxi-scooter design along with a powerful liquid-cooled engine. In the first phase, the brand will be setting up dealerships in New Delhi, Bengaluru, Pune, Hyderabad, Kolkata and Ahmedabad. And over the next three years, the company aims to set up 300 touch points across the country.
The X-Town 300i doesn’t really have any rivals in its segment. However, in its price bracket, there are plenty of motorcycles as alternatives like the Honda CBR250R, KTM 250 Duke and Royal Enfield Classic 500 and Thunderbird 500.
Will be made in India:
22Kymco has stated that the X-Town 300i will be made at the brand’s manufacturing facility in Bhiwadi, Rajasthan. The plant will have an annual production capacity of 1,00,000 units. That said, we believe that the maxi-scooter will be heavily localised via the CKD route at least initially. This is because the CKD route eliminates the need to outsource suppliers and minimise the development costs for the scooter. We will be sharing more details on this soon.
Gets touring-friendly features:
The X-Town 300i is a full-sized maxi-scooter with dual halogen headlamps dominating the front. It is flanked by indicators and there’s a large windscreen up top too. This should keep wind blast in check.
The chiselled single-piece seat looks roomy enough to keep the pillion comfortable over long distances as well. However, we’ll reserve our judgements until we get our hands on the scooter. Also, the large 12.5-litre fuel tank (largest in any scooter in India) should ensure a decent range for your weekend rides. Further enhancing the practicality is the underseat storage, which is spacious enough to hold not one but two full-face helmets! 22Kymco has also provided a hydraulic strut in the seat so that it stays open when you load it up.

There’s also an apron-mounted storage pocket with USB charging port and the instrument cluster is car-like. There’s an info-packed digital screen in between the two analogue pods as well.
Comes with a powerful engine:
The X-Town 300i is powered by a 276cc single-cylinder SOHC 2-valve liquid-cooled, fuel-injected engine. The engine produces 24.5PS at 7250rpm and 25Nm at 6250rpm. If the India-spec scooter makes the same figures, then it should be good enough to sustain triple-digit speeds on the highway. The X-Town 300i is the only scooter in the country to get a liquid-cooled engine.
Features potent underpinnings:
For an optimal balance of comfort and handling, the scooter is equipped with 37mm telescopic fork and a pair of rear shock absorbers with adjustable preload. Bringing this 181kg (dry) behemoth to a halt are 260mm front and 240mm rear petal disc with dual-channel ABS as standard. This is the only scooter in India to get a dual-channel ABS unit. The scooter rolls on 14-inch front and 13-inch rear alloy wheels wrapped with 120-section and 150-section front and rear tyre, respectively.
