India could get a 300cc version of the bike
- The spotted bike shares its motor with the CFMoto 250NK.
- Aprilia China already sells the Terra 150.
- Mechanicals are similar to what you’d find on the Hero XPulse 200.
Aprilia and its partner in China, Zongshen, have been building small-capacity ADV motorcycles for a few years. It started out as a 125cc bike called the Terra 125 which soon became a 150. Now a report emerging from China has spotted a Terra 250, a 250cc ADV powered by the same motor that you’d find on the Aprilia GPR250 and the CFMoto 250NK. While a 250 is enough to do the bidding in China, we expect that Aprilia could make use of the 300cc motor from the CFMoto 300NK if it does decide to bring the bike to India.
The Terra 150 has a simple construction thanks to a split downtube frame and box-section swingarm. Long-travel suspension units and a spoke rim setup does meet the ADV requirements. In fact the whole setup is quite similar to what you would find on a Hero XPulse 200. The motorcycle is sold in two trims in China: standard and Adventure. The difference is the latter gets more suspension travel and a 21-inch front wheel instead of the 18-incher of the former. The rear 17-inch wheel remains constant.
It does get the 250cc single-cylinder liquid-cooled motor that produces 26.5PS and 22Nm on the CFMoto 250NK. Aprilia, being a premium market player in India, is likely to bump up the engine cubes and change the tune for more performance. We hope it will certainly be more than what CFMoto manages to churn out from the 300NK: 27.9PS and 20.5Nm.
Given that Aprilia likes to operate in the niche two-wheeler space, we expect the Terra 300 to be priced at Rs 2.25 lakh (ex-showroom) and Rs 30,000 more for the Adventure trim.
