7 Scooters to Look Forward in 2016

India being the biggest two-wheeler market has a lot of options available in every segment. Today around 20 % percent of the market share is occupied by scooters. Scooter market in India is flooded with a wide range of options and in 2015, most of the two wheeler manufacturers have added at least one more product to their scooter line up. Earlier, we had listed the upcoming bikes that will arrive in 2016 and now we are here with the list of seven scooters to look forward to in 2016.
Honda PCX 150
According to the company claims, Honda PCX150 is amongst the most versatile, practical and sensible scooters on the planet. This blistering ride is expected to arrive in the Indian market sometime during 2016. The launch of PCX150 might be the start of a new era in the Indian Two-Wheeler industry as it is going to be one of the most powerful and premium scooters. Powering the scooter is a 153cc, liquid-cooled, single cylinder engine with a CVT gearbox. It gets Honda’s CBS braking system that will enhance the scooter’s stopping abilities.
Mahindra Gusto 125
Reportedly, Mahindra Two-Wheeler Limited is all set to introduce a 125cc Gusto early next year. Known for its car-like features, Mahindra Gusto is the first scooter in the country to offer a height adjustable seat. In addition to this, it also boasts seat self-locking mechanism, quick storage pocket under instrument console and a multi-function remote flip key. 2016 Mahindra Gusto will be powered by a 125cc engine that is expected to produce 8bhp and 9Nm. According to the sources, the production version is ready and this scooter will be launched during the first half of 2016.
Hero ZIR
Hero Motocorp will enter the 150cc scooter segment with the launch of ZIR 150. Hero ZIR will be offered in two variants - flat floorboard and European style step-through. The scooter is expected to feature a 157cc, single cylinder engine that might deliver around 13.5bhp of power and 12.7Nm of peak torque. Besides this, it will also boast features like dual projector headlamps with daytime running lights, bright LED blinkers and a front protection screen.
Piaggio Liberty 125
Known for its Retro-Styled scooters, Italian two-wheeler manufacturer Piaggio is ready to bring the Liberty 125 in 2016. The scooter is equipped with a 124cc, single cylinder engine that generates 10.2bhp at 7,500rpm and 10.4Nm at 6,000rpm. As a standard, Piaggio Liberty 125 will feature a 240mm disc up front and a 140mm drum brake at the rear.
Peugeot Satelis 125
Peugeot is all set to increase its presence in the scooter segment in India and will be launching Satelis 125 in 2016. This maxi scooter will come equipped with safety features like ABS and Halogen optical lights for better visibility. The scooter will be offered with a double-cradle frame, 37mm telescopic forks and 14” wheels which provide easy handling. It will be equipped with a 125cc liquid cooled engine with an automatic transmission and will be delivering a maximum power of 14.5bhp.
Yamaha Nozza
Yamaha has also decided to add another product to its scooter range and will be bringing Nozza in 2016. It follows the same design lines of Fascino and will be the latest entrant to the Yamaha India scooter family and will come equipped with an 113cc engine. Its single cylinder engine is expected to put out 7.2bhp and 7.6Nm. We need to wait and see if (the)Nozza can enjoy the same success as Yamaha’s highest selling scooter, the Fascino.
Piaggio Fly 125
Piaggio is planning to bring two of its scooters in 2016. After its latest offering, Liberty 125, the next offering from the Italian retro-styled scooter maker will be Piaggio Fly 125. Liberty 125 will have the same 124cc engine that powers Liberty, but with better tuning and is expected to produce 12bhp of power and 10.7Nm of torque. For better safety, the company has used 32mm telescopic forks up front and a hydraulic mono shock at the rear. The scooter will also be offered with 220mm of disc brakes on both the ends.
