Believe it or not, the researchers of the SMS Institute of Technology in Lucknow have claimed to be succeeded in developing a motorcycle engine that virtually runs on air. The sensational new bike mentioned above carries a compressed air tank which powers the turbine and provides the motive power to the bike. According to the inventors of this new bike the compressed air tank of this air-run motorcycle can be recharged with pumps running on easily available renewable energy sources such as solar energy.
If all goes well in the development of this newly invented engine system equipped bike, it will fall far cheaper than the currently available eco-friendly systems including hybrid and electric vehicles. The engine of this bike starts working as soon as the compressed air pushed into a tiny turbine. What can be considered the best part of this whole invention is that the emission level of this bike is nil. It emits nothing but the expanded as a waste product.
According to a statement given by Mr Bharat Raj singh (a researcher at the SMS Institute of Technology in Lucknow) to an online media group, the technology is commercially viable and could be available to consumers within a year. He added that a team of researchers working hard on making this new engine system viable for long distance journeys. The current technology provides a limited running time of 30 minutes to the bike, and researchers want to increased it to as much as 6 hours.
