Greaves Retail has partnered with Bounce Infinity to set up its own battery swapping infrastructure in 10 cities across the country
Bengaluru-based EV maker Bounce Infinity has announced its partnership with Greaves Retail to provide battery swapping stations for the latter’s Ampere electric scooters. With this partnership, Ampere EVs will soon adopt a ‘Battery as a Service’ (BaaS) model, just like Bounce.
The alliance will commence its pilot run in Bengaluru, which will be followed by the first phase of the project. In this phase, the company will set up 300 swap stations each in 10 cities across the country. Interestingly, these stations will not just cater to two-wheelers but three-wheelers too.

Bounce Infinity claims that its battery swapping stations are designed keeping interoperability in mind, and supports diverse vehicle segments, brands and models. In fact, the company aims to set up an infrastructure that can support ten lakh scooters within the next two years.
This is a welcome move from the companies, and having the convenience of swap stations around you means you can ride away with a fully charged battery in the same or lesser time than you would require to fuel up an ICE scooter. Furthermore, introducing the BaaS model also drives down the purchase cost of the EV.
Bounce might be the first company to introduce battery-swapping tech in the country, but it is going to face a lot of competition soon. Hero Electric has announced its alliance with Sun Mobility to deploy 10,000 EVs with swappable batteries, while Honda has joined hands with HPCL for setting up swap stations across the country.
