These Italians motorcycles demand a hefty price tag
After months of delay, Piaggio Group has finally launched the Aprilia RS 660, Tuono 660, RSV4 and the Tuono V4 in India at eye-watering prices, especially for the 660cc duo. The prices of the 660 duo leaked back in March this year, so it wasn't much of a surprise. What no one saw coming was the Moto Guzzi V85 TT in India. Here’s the complete price list:
Aprilia’s 660 duo has been well-received across the globe for its sophisticated electronics package, powerful engine and stunning design. The Aprilia RS 660 makes 100PS and 67Nm and packs a six-axis IMU with electronics aids like wheelie control, traction control, cruise control and riding modes.
The RS 660 slots between the likes of the Kawasaki Ninja 650 and the Honda CBR650R, but the Italian supersport’s pricing makes it over Rs 2 lakh more expensive than the 140PS Kawasaki Ninja 1000 SX. You can read more about the Aprilia RS 660 in this story.
The Tuono 660 packs a little less power (95PS) but has the same torque and electronics as the RS 660. The Italian naked locks horns with the likes of the Triumph Trident 660. However, at Rs 13.09 lakh, it is Rs 1.74 lakh dearer than the more powerful and sophisticated Triumph Street Triple RS. For more details on the mid-displacement Italian naked, head to this story.
Aprilia’s big boys, the RSV4 Factory and the Tuono V4 Factory have been priced close to their Italian rivals, the Ducati Panigale V4 (Rs 23.50 lakh) and the Ducati Streetfighter V4 (Rs 19.99 lakh). While Aprilia’s supersport is at par with the Panigale in terms of performance, the naked’s 175PS doesn’t come close to the Streetfighter V4’s manic 208PS. The 2021 Aprilia RSV4 and Tuono V4 debuted earlier this year with MotoGP technology, details of which can be found in this story.
Thanks to the country’s newfound love for ADVs, manufacturers aren’t shying away from bringing their mud-slinging machines to India. The latest to come to our shores is the Moto Guzzi V85 TT-- a retro-style ADV that has been winning hearts in many markets.
The Moto Guzzi V85 TT packs an air-cooled 853cc v-twin motor belting out 76.1PS at 7500rpm and 82Nm. This engine is mated to a 6-speed gearbox.
The underpinnings of this ADV include preload adjustable suspension at both ends. For braking, Moto Guzzi has deployed twin 320mm discs up front, each paired with 4-pot calipers and a 260mm rear disc brake with a twin-pot caliper.
At Rs 15.40 lakh, it is priced close to the top-spec Triumph Tiger 900 rally Pro (Rs 15.50 lakh). The Triumph ADV not only packs more performance but also flaunts superior equipment.
All the five bikes are now on sale across the country through the Motoplex dealerships. Not only have the bookings begun, but Aprilia has already begun deliveries of the RS 660 and RSV4 Factory in the country.
