Aprilia SXR 125 Price Revealed, Cost Rs 27,000 More Than Suzuki Burgman

Aprilia enthusiasts have been eagerly waiting for the arrival of the smaller capacity maxi-styled SXR 125 in India. Why so? Well, it’s expected to be a lot cheaper than its older sibling, the SXR 160. Or so we thought. We’ve managed to get our hands on the price of the scooter, and it’s a bit of a letdown. The SXR 125 is priced at Rs 1.16 lakh (ex-showroom Delhi) which is Rs 11,000 cheaper than the SXR 160 but almost Rs 27,000 more expensive than its arch rival, the Suzuki Burgman Street 125. In fact, you could save around Rs 38,000 and get yourself the TVS Ntorq 125

Pre-bookings for the scooter have already commenced via the company’s website for a token amount of Rs 5,000. Expect the scooter to be launched by the end of this month or in the early weeks of May 2021.

The Aprilia SXR 125 follows the same maxi design styling as its elder sibling. In fact, the only way to tell the two apart is to ride them since both the models feature the exact same colour options. The engine, of course, is the only difference. This smaller SXR is powered by a 124.45cc 3-valve mill that puts out 9.9PS and 9.6Nm, just like the Storm 125. Although, expect Aprilia to tune the CVT a bit differently, as it did on the SXR 160 for better bottom-end performance.

Thankfully, the suspension on the SXR 160 isn’t as stiff as the SR160. In fact, it’s one of the best riding Aprilias, something we noticed while testing the scooter. And the same can be expected from the SXR 125. It uses 12-inch wheels shod with the same chunky and grippy MRF tyres as the SXR 160. It does get a disc brake at the front but will only get CBS.

The pricing of the scooter is still on the premium side and a lot more than we had anticipated. How Aprilia intends to justify the price is up to anyone’s guess. What do you think, is Rs 1.16 lakh for a 125cc scooter acceptable? Let us know in the comments.
