A more powerful variant of the 450X with new features and a family scooter are incoming

Tarun Mehta, the CEO of Ather Energy has announced that the manufacturer will be launching two new scooters in 2024. The announcement was shared via social media, and the upcoming scooters will include a family scooter and a new iteration of the Ather 450X.

The  family scooter was spotted testing recently and judging by the images we have seen, it features a boxy design that’s similar to the TVS iQube. The overall design elements used such as a foldable pillion footrest, spacious floorboard and larger pillion grab rails have made the scooter more family friendly.

The family scooter will most likely come with the same 2.9kWh battery pack and LCD console along with similar hardware elements that we have seen on the 450S. Ather is likely to first launch a LR (Low Range) variant first, followed by a launch of the HR (High Range) variant next.

The scooter is expected to be launched by mid-2024 and the pricing could be similar to that of the 450S, around 1.3 lakh (ex-showroom including FAME 2 subsidies). It will compete directly with the TVS iQube, Hero Vida V1 Pro and the Bajaj Chetak.

The special edition of the Ather 450X will be launched in early 2024 as confirmed by the CEO. It will be a performance oriented scooter with a lot of new features. The scooter is likely to come with transparent panels and this was announced by the Ather CEO recently. Powering the scooter could be the same 3.7kWh battery pack that we have seen on the 450X with a motor that is tuned to extract more performance than the current 450X’s peak power of 6.4kW.

On the features front we expect the new scooter to come with dual-channel ABS and cruise control, both of which were missing from the current-gen 450X. Pricing can be expected to be around 1.6 lakh (ex-showroom Bengaluru including FAME 2 subsidies), which is a Rs 10,000 premium over the current 450X 3.7kWh variant.

Ather Energy has crossed its 10 year milestone with the company being founded in 2013, we believe the special edition of the 450X could be a homage to that achievement.
