Ather Stack 6 OTA update has also been rolled out along with the new mobile app
The Ather Rizta electric scooter has been finally launched, starting from Rs 1,09,999 (ex-showroom Bengaluru including EMPS, or Electric Mobility Promotion Scheme 2024). Ather’s first ‘family-oriented’ electric scooter features a boxy design, along with a wider and longer frame than the Ather 450X.
Ather Energy has equipped the Rizta with multiple features that make it more practical for everyday use. It has the largest seat in the segment, a single-piece grab rail, and an optional cushioned pillion backrest for extra pillion comfort. Being family-oriented, it has a large 34-litre under-seat storage space (same as Ola S1 Pro) along with a small storage compartment called the ‘Joi pocket’ at the front part of the boot, that can be used to store small items like a first-aid kit or a dusting cloth. Optional accessories include an organiser for boot storage that transforms into a carry bag and a 22-litre ‘frunk’ (mounted on the apron) which increases the scooter’s total storage space to 56 litres. The e-scooter also has a multi-purpose charging port under the seat, which is compatible with different devices including smartphones and laptops.
Another highlight of the Rizta is its ‘Ather SkidControl’ feature, which is essentially a traction control system. It uses a sensor to moderate the rear wheel’s rotating speed and syncs it with the front wheel, thereby preventing wheelspin on slippery surfaces. It gets two riding modes: Smart Eco and Zip. Moreover, the Z variants get 'Magic twist' and regen braking, which is the first time in an electric scooter. The rest of the features remain the same as the Ather 450X including the hill hold, reverse mode, fall safe (which turns off the motor when the scooter falls on its side) etc. The electric family scooter has a 400mm water-wading ability, allowing you to even ride through knee-deep water.
The Rizta electric scooter is available in five colours, including single-tone options (White and Grey), as well as dual-tone options (Blue, Green, and Grey).
The Rizta S gets the same 7-inch ‘deep view’ LCD console from the Ather 450S with turn-by-turn navigation. On the other hand, the Rizta Z gets the full-colour TFT screen from the Ather 450X, with integrated Google maps navigation. But the interface of this screen has been completely changed for the Rizta Z.
The Rizta gets the same 4.3kW motor as the Ather 450X and has an 80kmph claimed top speed. It's available in three variants: Rizta S with a 2.9kWh battery and a claimed IDC (Indian Driving Conditions) range of 123km, priced at Rs 1,09,999, Rizta Z with a 2.9kWh battery and 123km range, priced at Rs 1,24,999, and a top-of-the-line version with a 3.7kWh battery and a higher 160km range, priced at Rs 1,44,999 (all prices ex-showroom Bengaluru, including EMPS).
Halo Smart Helmet
Ather has also launched the Halo smart helmet range which includes a full-face helmet and a half-face helmet called ‘Halo bit’. The helmets have a clean and simple design, and they come with various connectivity features including built-in Harman Kardon speakers and mic setup which allows you to receive calls and listen to music. Moreover, the ‘Ather Chit Chat’ feature allows the rider and pillion helmet to connect and talk clearly, by isolating the ambient audio. You can also enjoy listening to music together. Thanks to a sensor, the helmet automatically turns on as you wear it and connects itself to your Ather scooter.
Ather claims that the Halo helmet has a battery life of approximately one week. The helmets come with a wireless charger and can also be charged in the boot space of Rizta using the same wireless charger.
Coming to the price, the half-face ‘Halo bit’ is more affordable and lightweight, it is priced at Rs 4,999. The full-face Halo helmet has an introductory price of Rs 12,999 for the first thousand customers and will later be available for Rs 14,999.
AtherStack 6.0 Update
Ather has also rolled out the AtherStack 6.0 software update for all its electric scooters including the 450X and the 450S, along with the new mobile app with more features than before. It comes standard on the Rizta. The new update brings a refreshed interface and integrates your WhatsApp on the dashboard with all the texting functionalities. You can also reject incoming calls with SMS now.
The new mobile app includes features such as location tracking, tyre pressure monitoring, theft alert, Halo helmet battery status, and real-time scooter battery level displayed in your notification bar while the scooter is charging.
