To reduce the fatalities in two-wheelers, the government of India is planning to make auto-headlamps mandatory from April 2017. This upcoming feature will allow the headlamp to be stayed on as long as the engine is operating and the rider will not be able to switch it off.

This feature is already compulsory in the international market, especially in Europe and has proven itself as a potential life saver. The feature helps the fellow motorists to be careful about the vehicle’s presence before it is too late, thereby, reducing chances of a crash.

According to the reports, the norm has been decided with the mutual consent of both bike makers and the road transport ministry. Due to the reason, the feature is more of eliminating the headlight on/off switch and the upgrades in the quality of headlight elements, while the additional cost would be marginal. According to the government’s reports, the highest number fatal crashes involve two wheelers. Within the last year, 32,524 people died in accidents involving two-wheelers, while 1,27,452 people got injuries.

Apart from adding auto headlamps in two-wheelers, the officials of transport ministry are also planning to come up with a device that can create a unique sound during the crash. This will help the local police to attend the accident victims quickly.
