Bajaj Auto India’s leading two wheeler manufacturer has confirmed that every single vehicle of theirs has already become Bharat Stage III (BS III) compliant in early March, much ahead of the 1st April deadline. The Bharat Stage III norms, will be followed and implemented on recommendation by Dr R.A. Mashelkar committee for the control of pollution in the country. Emissions standards are requirements that set specific limits to the amount of pollutants can be released into the environment. As per the Bharat III norms for two wheelers, the Carbon Monoxide (CO) and Hydrocarbons plus Nitrogen Oxides (HC+NOx) emission have to be brought down from 1.50 (g/km) to 1.0 (g/km) from April 2010. The norms will be applicable in all the major states across the country from 1st April 2010. In information shared by S. Sridhar, CEO-Two Wheelers, he indicated “Bajaj has been always committed to greener technologies and has substantially invested in technologies like the DTS-Si and the DTS-i way ahead of the curve. The emission type approval tests undergone by our entire bike range is way below the norm set for both Carbon Monoxide and HC+NOx. In fact our largest selling bike the Discover DTS-Si is probably the world’s most eco-friendly motorcycle”
