The new Avenger series by Bajaj seems to be doing well as the Bajaj Avenger records an average sale of 25,000 units per month, i.e., eight times higher than the sales of the previous Avenger models. The company previously aimed to sell 9,000 units of the bike in a month, but the sales have reached close to three times of this target. The new Avenger comes in two versions and three variants - Street 220, Street 150 and Cruise 220. Among these, Street 150 leads the pack with close to 10,000 units sold in a month (40% of total sales). The Street 150 is priced at Rs. 75,000 and both the 220cc bikes cost Rs. 84,000 (both prices ex-showroom, Delhi). As of now, Avenger does not have any competition in this segment as there is no other company offering cruiser motorcycles in this price bracket.
Due to the impressive sales figures of Avenger and Pulsar, Bajaj recorded a rise of 3% in November sales and is selling close to 75,000 units in a month. Bajaj also stepped forward to help flood affected Chennai and organised a service camp for affected two-wheelers. It also donated Rs. 10 Crore towards Chennai Flood Relief Fund. Speaking about it, Mr. Rahul Bajaj, Chairman, Bajaj Auto and Bajaj Finance said, “Tamil Nadu and particularly Chennai has seen unforeseen disaster and damage to property and infrastructure worth crores of rupees. We feel the grief of our fellow citizens in the state and they need our help at this critical time to come out of this tragedy and to rebuild their lives. We are joining the government's effort to help in relief operations in flood-ravaged Tamil Nadu and provide all support to the affected countrymen in the state.”
