What should you expect from the launch of Bajaj’s first electric two-wheeler?
[Update: Bajaj Chetak Electric Scooter Launched In India]
- Bajaj has revived the Chetak moniker for its latest scooter.
- It is powered by a 4kW BLDC motor.
- We expect Bajaj to price it slightly above the Rs 1-lakh mark.
After creating quite a buzz for itself in 2019, the Bajaj Chetak is all set to be launched tomorrow. The electric scooter was first showcased in Delhi in the latter half of 2019. The Chetak is expected to carry a sticker price of Rs 1 lakh with the company already confirming that deliveries will begin in its home-town Pune. Bajaj will continue expansion later in the year with Bengaluru being the next city on its radar.
The Chetak is an elegantly styled family scooter. The design is very much European with its flared side body panels and sleek front end. In fact, one can mistake it for a Vespa as even the front single-sided shocker unit is similar to that found on the modern-day Vespas.

Powering the Chetak is a 4kW BLDC motor with lithium-ion batteries providing enough juice to cover 95km on a single charge. The Chetak will get two riding modes: Sport and Eco. It also gets a Reverse button to back the scooter in while parking. We are yet to get details of the top speed and the time required to fully charge the batteries. We hope to get answers to that as well as to a few other questions tomorrow.
