Bajaj overwhelmed its competition by selling almost five times the number of iQubes

  • The Chetak and iQube compete in the premium electric scooter segment.
  • The Bajaj Chetak is priced from Rs 1 lakh while the iQube costs Rs 15,000 more.
  • While the Chetak is available in two cities, the iQube is limited to one.

The government’s move to push the use of electric mobility solutions in major cities has given the electric two-wheeler segment the boost it needed. So-much-so that mainstream manufacturers like Bajaj and TVS stepped into the electric market with the Chetak and iQube Electric. Both scooters are equally impressive in their own rights, but the sales chart for the month of March 2020 has proven that the Bajaj holds the upper hand in the segment.

TVS iQube

While we expected a close competition, the Bajaj Chetak managed to outsell the iQube by a huge margin. Of course, these numbers still look pale when compared to ICE-powered rivals, but, the low numbers could be attributed to the fact that these scooters are only sold in select cities.
