Bajaj Commences Chetak Electric Yatra

This 3,000-km road trip will showcase the new electric scooter’s reliability and range capability
- Bajaj has unveiled the Chetak Electric Scooter.
- To celebrate the unveiling, Bajaj has flagged off 20 riders from Delhi.
- The 20 Chetak Electric scooters will travel the northern and western Indian region and end their journey in Pune.
Bajaj today showcased its first electric scooter, the Chetak. To celebrate the occasion, 20 Chetak electric scooters embarked on a road trip called the ‘Chetak Electric Yatra’. Nitin Gadkari, Minister for Road Transport and Highways, and Amitabh Kant, CEO of Niti Aayog, flagged off the electric scooters from Delhi today.

The electric scooters will cover around 3,000 kilometres across the northern and western regions of India, heading down as far as Goa and ending in Pune, Maharashtra. The long ride will also serve as an endurance test for the electric scooters. Besides testing its reliability, the road trip will also gauge the range of the electric scooters. Bajaj claims a real-world range of 95 kilometres in Eco mode for the Chetak.

The Chetak electric scooter is expected to be launched by mid-November or early December this year. In terms of pricing, the Chetak is expected to undercut the Ather 450 by a good margin and be priced around Rs 1 lakh (ex-showroom).
