Bajaj CT110X: All You Need To Know

This is by far the most ideal commuter bike for tackling the worst of our roads!

Bajaj recently launched the CT110X, a rugged variant of the CT110 at Rs 55,594 (ex-showroom Delhi). Off-road-themed motorcycles are all the rage these days, and Bajaj did one better by offering a bike that’s affordable to the masses. Here’s everything you need to know about the CT110X:

Gets quite a few terrain-taming bits:

The Bajaj CT110X is equipped with a slightly higher-set front fender which gives more clearance for muck-filled tyres to move freely. Oh, and the tyres are also rugged MRF Mogrip Meteor block pattern units at both ends, wrapped on 17-inch alloy wheels. The front telescopic fork is gaitered to prevent dust from getting into the fork seals, whereas the rear employs a pair of Spring-in-Spring (SNS) shock absorbers. There’s a headlamp grille for added protection, and the handlebar is braced for extra rigidity. 

The fuel tank comes with knee grips, which should help keep your legs secure while riding standing up. That said, the footpegs still have non-removable rubber cushioning. The 810mm tall single-piece seat (a little too high for its segment) comes with premium stitching to differentiate itself from the regular variant. A large ventilated metal bash plate  protects the exhaust and the engine underside. This coupled with the standard compact engine guard should keep all the crucial components protected in case of a fall. At the rear, the motorcycle gets a chunky pillion grab rail with integrated tail rack (with a seven-kilo load limit) to secure your luggage. The pillion footboard also doubles up as a bracing to prevent the side pannier from getting into contact with the rear wheel. At 170mm, the ground clearance is still the same as the regular model.

Potent powertrain:

The Bajaj CT110X is powered by the same 115.45cc single-cylinder air-cooled engine with electronic carburettor. Bajaj uses an electronic carburettor instead of a proper fuel-injection system as the former is less expensive, while at the same time complying with BS6 emission norms. The engine churns out 8.6PS at 7500rpm (as opposed to 7000rpm in the CT110), and 9.81Nm at 5000rpm (same as the CT110). It works alongside a 4-speed transmission.

Spartan features:

Certain aspects of the motorcycle are pretty barebones. The instrument cluster may be twin pod but it just shows the speed and fuel level, along with an odometer reading. The switchgear has also been borrowed from the CT110. They look crude but that is expected from a bike in this segment. There’s an LED DRL on the bikini fairing, which should make the bike a little more modern as the headlamp is still halogen and the tail lamp and indicators are bulbs. It employs a 130mm front and a 110mm rear drum brake with CBS as standard. We’d have liked it if Bajaj had provided a front disc at least as an option.

As mentioned earlier, the Bajaj CT110X is priced at Rs 55,594, making it dearer than the CT 110 by just Rs 2,096. It is available in four colour options: green, red, blue, and black. There are no natural rivals in its segment, but other alternatives in the 110cc segment include the Honda CD 110 Dream and Hero Splendor iSmart 110 and TVS Sport. All in all, if you’re looking for a rugged-looking 110cc commuter bike that can take a serious beating and come out unscathed, the Bajaj CT110X is the one for you.
