Bajaj Auto added one more member named Discover 100M to its popular Discover range of the commuters today. Earlier, the company has two 100cc commuters in this range namely Discover 100 4G and 100T, priced at Rs. 44,301 and Rs. 48,764 respectively. However, now the company has fill up the price gap of Rs. 4,500 in the 100cc range by launching the new Discover 100M. The bike comes with two variants price at Rs. 44,754 for the self and alloy variant and Rs. 47,699 for self, alloy, disk variant. (all prices ex-showroom, Pune).
Speaking on the occasion, President (Motorcycle Business), Mr K.Srinivas said, “The Discover series of bikes have redefined the “Mileage Bike” segment. In this segment the competition offer only plain Jane very basic bikes as the predominant consideration of the customer is Mileage. Thanks to our patented twin-spark, 4 –Valve engines we are able to “Power Up” the Mileage bikes – the Discover 100M gives 9.3 PS power and yet delivers 84 km to the litre.”
“Further these ‘Mileage Bikes’ in their quest to be economical deprive the consumer of exciting performance and features. The new Discover 100M offers the best of all worlds – “Advanced Technology”, “Amazing Mileage”, ”Great Power”, “Excellent Speed” and “Brilliant Features”, he added.
We were ealier shared the spy shots, which were showing most of the cosmetic changes but there are some mechanical changes as well. The 100M features Discover 100's handle bar and seat, which helped Bajaj to cut down the cost of the new bike. The chrome finished side panels also have been replaced with standard body panels, the chrome tip at the exhaust has also been removed. All other parts and body panels are similar to 100T and paint job of the bike also has been continued on the new bike. It will be available in five colours – Flame Red, Brilliant Blue, MidnightBlack (Red decals), Midnight Black (Blue decals) and Midnight Black (Olive Decals).
Bajaj has dedicated a tagline ' Mileage Bikes ka Naya Satya' to Discover 100M because the M in the name stands for mileage. And the company has claimed to deliver 84kmpl from the bike. The bike has got the same 102cc, 4-stroke, single-cylinder, 4-valve, DTS-i engine, which also powers the 100T. The company claims 100T as the most powerful 100cc bike with a maximum power output of 10bhp. However, the new 100M has been tuned to deliver 9.3PS power. The another big change is the 4-speed gear box instead of the 5-speed transmission. The maximum speed also decreased to 95kmph, which is 105kmph for the 100T. However, Bajaj continue to offer the Nitrox gas filled susspension system with this low cost commuter, which is actually a segment above feature. With the new developments, we are quite sure that Bajaj might launch a new 125cc Discover pretty soon, might be the Discover 125M.
