This is the second price increase since the BS6 motorcycle’s launch
Bajaj has hiked the price of its flagship tourer, the Dominar 400, by Rs 1,507. The motorcycle now costs Rs 1,96,258 (ex-showroom Delhi). This is the second price hike for the motorcycle since its BS6 transition with the previous one seeing a significant Rs 3,000 increase.
Despite the price increase, the Dominar 400 remains cosmetically and mechanically unchanged. In its second-generation avatar, the Bajaj Dominar 400 gets a slightly revised LED headlamp, double-barrel exhausts, dual digital instrument console and 43mm upside-down forks. Its KTM 390 Duke-derived 373.3cc liquid-cooled single-cylinder motor offers more power. Even with BS6 emission restrictions, the motor delivers the same 40PS and 35Nm. It gets a 6-speed gearbox and a slipper clutch. The tourer gets a perimeter frame with upside-down forks and monoshock. Braking is via a 320mm front disc and a 230mm rear disc with dual-channel ABS.

The Bajaj Dominar has seen a significant price hike since its launch at Rs 1.36 lakh back in December 2016. Even the lower capacity Dominar 250 launched earlier this year in March is priced at Rs 1.6 lakh (ex-showroom Delhi). Besides the Dominar, Bajaj has been increasing prices of its two-wheelers across the range in small increments to soften the blow of the BS6 price hike rather than one massive price hike like some bike manufacturers. Let’s hope this is the last price hike for a long time now.
