The 2018 Bajaj Dominar 400 will now cost Rs 2000 more than before
After increasing the price of the Dominar 400 by Rs 2000 in April 2018, Bajaj has repeated the feat, hiking prices by Rs 2000, yet again. The standard version of the Dominar 400 now retails at Rs 1.46 lakh and the ABS variant is available for Rs 1.60 lakh (both prices, ex-showroom Delhi).
In less than two months, the company has increased the prices of the Dominar twice. The updated Dominar 400 with few visual upgrades and three new colour schemes was launched earlier this year in January, with no change in its prices. However, it has become pricier by Rs 4000 than what it was in 2017. In fact, Bajaj has increased the prices of the Dominar 400 by Rs 10,000 (including this hike) since its launch in December 2016.
It is certainly an interesting move especially when the Dominar 400 hasn’t had a good run in the Indian market since its inception. The estimated sales target was to sell around 10,000 units a month. However, the company could manage an average sale of around 3,000 only.
The Bajaj Dominar 2018 is powered by a liquid-cooled, fuel-injected engine that produces a max power of 35PS at 8000rpm and a peak torque of 35Nm at 6500rpm, mated to a 6-speed gearbox. Built on a perimeter frame, it gets 43mm telescopic front forks and a multi-step monoshock suspension at the rear. Braking duties are handled by discs at both ends, 320mm front and 230mm rear.
In India, it goes up against the likes of the Royal Enfield Thunderbird 350X (Rs 1.56 lakh) and the Mahindra Mojo UT300 (Rs 1.49 lakh) (both prices, ex-showroom Delhi).
