Bajaj has recently launched the new Platina 100 ES in India, and now the next coming model seems to be Pulsar 200SS. The first full-faired motorcycle of the company is expected to be launched within the next 2 months. Some recent reports are claiming that the upcoming 200SS will be offered in both ABS and non ABS variants. The ABS variants will be coming up with Bosch ABS Light.
The ABS light is a low cost Anti-lock Braking System developed by Bosch for the small two-wheelers. It is a single channel ABS and will assist the front disc brake of the upcoming Bajaj Pulsar 200SS. Cost of the equipment is just around Rs. 10,000, which is almost Rs. 20,000 lesser than the common dual channel ABS from Bosch.
Rear wheel of the Pulsar 200SS will also get a petal disc brake like the existing 200NS, however, it will miss the ABS assistance. Apart from the super sport style bodywork, all other features and specifications of the 200SS will be similar to that of 200NS and it is expected to cost around Rs. 20,000 - 30,000 extra without the ABS. The Pulsar 200NS comes with a price tag of Rs. 91,470 (ex-showroom, Delhi), which means that the 200SS could be priced between a bracket of Rs. 1.11 - 1.21 lakh in India.
Currently, ABS comes with a few motorcycles in the Indian market excluding the superbike segment. The technology comes in bikes like KTM 390 Duke, Honda CBR250R, KTM RC 390 and TVS Apache RTR 180. Out of all these motorcycles, TVS Apache RTR 180 offers the equipment with least cost, offering a dual channel ABS at just around Rs. 10,690 extra.
