Does the Pulsar N150 stack up against the original Pulsar 150
The Bajaj Pulsar lineup has given us some iconic motorcycles over the years and the Pulsar 150 is one of them. But now with Bajaj bringing out new models like the Bajaj Pulsar N150, people have wondered if the original Pulsar that kickstarted the Pulsar revolution still has what it takes to stay relevant. Let's find out through this image comparison.
Design
The Pulsar N150 comes with a more modern design, with its LED projector headlight and DRLs. It is also a bit more aggressive with its tank extensions and bodywork, underbelly exhaust and overall styling.
The Pulsar 150 on the other hand still retains the iconic Pulsar design, with the large halogen headlight and simple bodywork. The bike overall is able to maintain that old charm that we associate with the Pulsar lineup.
Engine
Both the Pulsar 150 and Pulsar N150 are both 150cc bikes, but the engines are quite different. The N150 gets the more updated 149.68cc engine which produces 14.5PS at 8500rpm and 13.5Nm at 6000rpm. Whereas the Pulsar 150 uses a 149.5cc one that produces 14PS at 8500rpm and 13.25Nm at 6500rpm.
The power figures might not look that different but the Pulsar N150 has the advantage here as it offers more refinement and a smoother riding experience by extension.
Underpinnings
The biggest difference in terms of underpinnings is that the Pulsar N150 gets a rear monoshock, whereas the Pulsar 150 is suspended on twin shock absorbers in the rear.
Features
The N150 recently got a major upgrade which brought a new fully-digital instrument console with new features such as smartphone connectivity and related functionalities like Call/SMS alerts along with readouts such as distance to empty and instantaneous fuel efficiency.
The Pulsar 150 on the other hand still has the same old instrument console that we have seen on the original Pulsar lineup, which is a semi-digital unit with an analogue tachometer and digital display that shows readouts like speed, fuel level, tripmeters and odometer.
Conclusion
The Pulsar N150 represents the modern evolution of the Pulsar lineup, with a newer design, better engine and more set of features. The Pulsar 150 has remained unchanged over the years, which isn’t necessarily a bad thing because the bike is much more affordable than even some 125cc motorcycles. The Pulsar 150 for perspective starts at an ex-showroom Delhi price of Rs 1,10,419 (single disc variant). N150 on the other hand starts Rs 1,24,038 (ex-showroom Delhi).
If a modern 150cc commuter with aggressive styling and lots of features is what you are looking for then the Pulsar N150 is the right choice. But if features and design aren’t what you are looking for, and you just want 150cc performance at 125cc prices then the Pulsar 150 is the bike for you.
