The home grown manufacturer's upcoming flagship motorcycle, Bajaj Pulsar SS400 is again in news. A camouflaged test mule of the supersport styled motorcycle has been spotted again in India, which hints towards its launch that may be round the corner. Model of the bike has been already showcased at the 2014 Indian Auto Expo along with its naked version concept, which might follow the full faired bike.
Bajaj Pulsar SS400 is based on the 200NS' platform and is powered by a new, bigger mill based on the KTM Duke 390's engine. The single cylinder motor of 373.2cc displacement might deliver a maximum power of more than 40bhp using advance 4-valve, Triple-Spark and EFI technologies.
The bike gets a sporty fairing with twin projector headlamps with daytime running lights, which gives a proper superbike feel to the machine. The bike gets all the required features of a complete track runner including split seat for a perfect seating position and clip-on handlebars for better stability and aerodynamics. Bajaj Pulsar SS400 will feature telescopic forks at the front, mono-shock at the rear, front and rear disc brakes and a digital analog instrumentation. The company might also offer optional ABS assistance to the braking system for extra safety in emergency braking.
Pulsar SS400 is expected to be priced under Rs. 2 lakh and it will compete with the existing faired machines in the segment like Honda CBR250R, Kawasaki Ninja 300 and Hyosung GT250R, while its upcoming rivals will be KTM RC 390 and Yamaha R25.
