Bajaj to launch Pulsar 220 in Indonesia

At present Indonesia is coming as an valuable market for the Indian two wheeler makers. Bajaj Auto has also seen good profits in this market and has assembled Bajaj Pulsar 135 (also named Bajaj Pulsar 135 LS) in Indonesia. The company has now announced that it has lined up Bajaj Pulsar 220 for launch in the Indonesian market. This all is done to cope out from the loss that the company has suffered earlier. According to the recent reports, it was seen that the sales figures jumped 81% to 21,586 motorcycles in 2010-2011 from 11,954 motorcycles in the past year. The loss also got reduced by 4.7 crore form 15.9 crore to 11.2 crore in 2010-2011.

The annual report of the company disclosed that with the launch of Bajaj Pulsar 220 in the first quarter of 2011-2012 will increase the number of products in Indonesia under the Bajaj's briefcase. The report said that with the launch of both the models of Bajaj Pulsar in Indonesia the company aims to reduce the losses it incurred in the past years. The Indonesian arm of Bajaj Auto, PT Bajaj Indonesia is trying its best to localise its sub-assemblies this year. The government has also reduced the custom duty to 5% for the Semi-Knocked Down (SKD) and the Completely Knocked Down (CKD) operations.

The report also gave the figures of the money invested by Bajaj Auto in its Indonesian arm. The company till today has invested an amount of Rs. 137.82 crore and has made a accoutrement of Rs. 102.27 crore as a reduction in the investment. Bajaj Auto also has 39.71% shares of the Austrian brand KTM. The company has already started the manufacturing of KTM Duke 125 for the Indonesian market. A similar bike with 200cc engine will also be made available in the Indian market soon. This new KTM will be supplied worldwide by Bajaj Auto. The company will also use this technology to manufacture bikes for the Indian market.
