The endeavour is to reach 150 lakh people so that they can, in turn, spread the message to trace and hear the stories of Indian war heroes.

Bajaj has launched a new campaign under its newly launched brand 'V' to search for the 1300 officers and sailors that served on India’s first aircraft carrier during the 1971 Indo-Pak war. The digital initiative has been christened “Mission Vikrant 1971” and its aim is to identify and share details of the war heroes that served on the INS Vikrant and preserve their stories for posterity.

Commenting on the launch of Mission Vikrant 1971, Sumeet Narang, vice president, marketing, Bajaj Auto Ltd, said, “Ever since we unveiled the Bajaj V on Republic Day we have been inundated with calls asking us about the erstwhile INS Vikrant.  We had made a celebrated documentary ‘Sons of Vikrant’ which captured stories and experiences of senior naval officers who served on INS Vikrant. We are pleased to announce the launch of Mission Vikrant 1971 which is the biggest ever countrywide search for the 1971 Vikrant war veterans. We would like to record their stories for posterity, and present it to the country. The campaign is unique as it will use digital and social media to urge every Indian to help in the search.”

Bajaj V Launched Mission Vikrant 1971

We all know that the newly launched Bajaj V15 incorporates a piece of metal from the INS Vikrant in its fuel tank, which add a nostalgic value. Earlier, Bajaj launched 'Sons of Vikrant', a documentary based on India's first aircraft carrier and its pilots. Now, the company has launched Mission Vikrant 1971 on August 15, 2016, with a dedicated micro-site. It is inviting entries from friends, families and well-wishers of 1971 INS Vikrant war veterans to share the stories and details of the Indian war heroes. The aim is to reach 150 lakh people over the next 40 days so they can spread the message to hear more about the people related to the glorious victory of INS Vikrant. The intent is to find out more about their enduring journey on the INS Vikrant four and a half decades ago, which will be showcased to the Indian public.
