Despite disappointing sales, Bajaj will not pull the plug on the V15
When Bajaj launched the V15 in 2016, it swiftly became a highly popular product amongst the Indian masses. Not to forget it had traces of the metal from the INS Vikrant used for certain body panels. Three years down the line, sales of the motorcycle have declined massively. In fact, Bajaj had to stop the production of the V12, the smaller sibling of the V15, and we figured a similar fate was in store for the V15. However, the V15 will remain on sale, for now.
As per an online report, Bajaj’s Executive Director Rakesh Sharma said, “The V’s performance is disappointing. It caught the fancy (of the buyers). It is appealing to a very small segment of buyers. We did have the option of expanding the V range, but later we decided against that option. But we are not withdrawing it from the market, we are leaving it out there.”
He has gone on to say that Bajaj will continue to offer the bike to those who liked the format but it is unlikely that bike would gain popularity once again. As Bajaj looks to get ready for the upcoming BS6 emission norms, we feel that the Pune-based bike maker will not sell this model post April 2020.
