The Chakan-based company might launch the scooter by the end of this year or early 2020
- The scooter features LED lights at the rear.
- When launched, we expect it to get features like a USB port, LED DRLs and a semi-digital instrument cluster.
- The upcoming scooter will be sold under Bajaj’s Urbanite brand.
After a hiatus of more than a decade, Bajaj is planning to re-enter the scooter segment with a new sub-brand called Urbanite. And now, the first test mule has been spotted in Pune. Although the Urbanite brand will primarily focus on electric two-wheelers, we reserve our judgement on whether the test mule is electric or petrol-powered.
The spy shot also reveals that the upcoming scooter features LED lights at the rear, handlebar-mounted headlamp and a fully digital instrument cluster. We expect the production model to get an all-LED headlamp setup, a USB port and an underseat LED as well. Rather than going for a futuristic look, the upcoming scooter will feature a retro design (think of it as a Vespa-esque scooter, if you may). The scooter seems to be following the same design language as the sketches that surfaced online earlier in March.
There’s no word on the mechanical details yet. However, looking at how popular the sub-125cc scooter segment is, we expect Bajaj’s upcoming scooter to be placed here. There’s no confirmation about when Bajaj will launch its new scooter. But if we were to guess, we would say by the end of this year or by early 2020.
