Revolt’s all-electric bike, the RV 400, has been the talk of the town lately, and rightly so. It’s the first AI-enabled electric motorcycle in India with a host of features and a promising range which may address concerns related to range anxiety. A wholesome package we’d say! That said, Revolt may have to watch its back as Benling, a Chinese electric two-wheeler manufacturer, says it is developing its very own e-bike to rival the RV 400. And, it's expected to be launched as early as next year.

Reports suggest that the upcoming electric motorcycle from Benling will be able to deliver a claimed range of 140 km on a single charge. Moreover, according to the brand, the said electric motorcycle is capable of hitting a top speed of around 80-90kmph which should put it on par with petrol-powered 125cc motorcycles. Rather than going bonkers, the bike is expected to remain realistic with its design approach.

If you haven’t heard of Benling, it’s a China-based two-wheeler manufacturer that was incorporated back in 2001 and commenced operations by 2003. The company has an annual production capacity of 6-12 lakh units, 60 per cent of which is exported to international markets. The brand is relatively new to the Indian electric two-wheeler space and set up shop in the country in December 2018. It currently has three low-speed e-scooters in its portfolio - Kriti, Falcon and Icon which are currently being sold in cities like Bengaluru, Chennai, Hyderabad, Kolkata, and Gurugram. Benling’s e-scooter range is priced from Rs 40,000. The company says it has sold over 800 units since it began retail operations in May this year

Furthermore, in a bid to expand its reach in the country, Benling will be setting up three more manufacturing plants apart from its current facility in Manesar. The company says it will soon expand the number of touchpoints as well. At present, the manufacturer imports its lithium-ion battery packs and electric motors from China which amasses taxes. Producing parts locally will help the company price its products more competitively. To further aid its future plans for India, the manufacturer will be looking at partnering with bike rental companies to address last-mile connectivity issues.
