Suzuki’s BS6-compliant 155cc motorcycles receive their first price hike since their introduction
- The 155cc Gixxer range consists of the naked Gixxer, faired Gixxer SF and the Gixxer SF MotoGP Edition.
- All the three bikes are now dearer by around Rs 2,000.
- Apart from the price hike, the motorcycles remain unchanged.
Suzuki has hiked the prices of both the 155cc Gixxer and the Gixxer SF in the country. Here’s a look at the revised prices (ex-showroom Delhi) and the premium you need to pay for each variant:
This is the first time Suzuki has hiked the prices of these BS6-compliant models since their launch in March 2020. Sadly, apart from the cleaner engines, Suzuki hasn’t offered any tangible features in the BS6-compliant bikes. At the time of their launch, the bikes carried a hefty premium of around Rs 11,600 to Rs 12,300 over their BS4-compliant counterparts. And now, the price gap has just gotten bigger.
In fact, with the recent price hike, the Suzuki Gixxer is the most expensive 160cc naked in the country. Even the most powerful bike in its segment, the Bajaj Pulsar NS160, undercuts it by a whopping Rs 8,040. All the three Gixxers share a 155cc SOHC air-cooled, fuel-injected motor which churns out 13.6PS at 8000rpm and 13.8Nm at 6000rpm.
Notable features include an LED headlamp and tail lamp, fully digital instrument cluster with shift light, and front and rear disc brake with single-channel ABS. The Suzuki Gixxer SF MotoGP Edition gets exclusive MotoGP-inspired livery. Its mechanicals are the same as the standard variant. The Suzuki Gixxer goes up against the TVS Apache RTR 160 4V, Bajaj Pulsar NS160, Hero Xtreme 160R, Yamaha FZ-S Fi Version 3.0 and the upcoming Honda CB Hornet 160R BS6. On the other hand, the closest faired rival to the Suzuki Gixxer SF is the soon-to-be-launched Hero Xtreme 200S BS6.
