The brand has discontinued all its 110cc scooters

  • The new 125cc scooters get a stop-start system and silent start feature.
  • Fuel injection is standard on both models.
  • Output is up by 1PS and 1.6Nm over the 110cc models.

Yamaha has made its debut in the 125cc scooter segment by launching the new Fascino 125 Fi and unveiling the Ray ZR 125 Fi. Both scooters feature a fuel-injected BS6-compliant motor producing 8.2PS and 9.7Nm. A stop-start feature has also been added along with a silent start system, courtesy of an ACG starter. Claimed fuel efficiency for the new motor is 58kmpl. Yamaha has discontinued its entire 110cc scooter lineup, presumably because it wasn't feasible to update the engines to BS6 without significantly driving up costs.

The Fascino gets a fresh new look with redesigned bodywork and increased floorboard space. It also now rolls on alloy wheels and is stopped by an optional front disc brake for the first time, while being 4kg lighter than its predecessor. It now tips the scales at 99kg, making it the lightest scooter in its class. Ergos have been reworked, with the handlebar now 20mm taller and 18mm closer to the rider than before. A wider seat will also result in a more comfortable seating position.

Pricing for the Fascino 125 starts at Rs 66,430 for the STD Drum variant, going up to Rs 69,930 for the DLX Disc variant. This makes it around Rs 10,000 more expensive than the 110cc Fascino, which is reasonable. A total of 7 colour options are available, with the red and yellow options available only on disc brake variants.

Variant Price (in Rs, ex-showroom Delhi)
STD Drum 66,430
STD Disc 68,930
DLX Drum 67,430
DLX Disc 69,930

The RayZR 125 Fi has been restyled as well and sports quite an unconventional look with its motorcycle-like turn indicators and faux air-intakes. It is also accompanied by a more off-road oriented Street Rally variant that gets knuckle guards, dual-purpose tyres and a front disc brake as standard. Both variants get a fully-digital instrument cluster and an LED DRL.

It uses the same motor as the Fascino 125 and hence output is also the same. A side-stand cut-off feature is present on both new scooters, and they both weigh the same as well. Yamaha has not yet announced pricing for the RayZR 125 Fi, but we expect it to be around Rs 10,000 more expensive than the 110cc version. The Street Rally variant should set you back by another Rs 2,000 - 3,000. Stay tuned for further updates.
