Yamaha dealerships across India have begun accepting bookings for the BS6 R15 V3 for a token amount ranging from Rs 1,000 to Rs 5,000. Deliveries are expected to commence in the first week of January. The updated model is priced at Rs 1,45,900 (ex-showroom Delhi), a hike of around Rs 6,000 over the BS4 iteration. Aside from the updated motor, the bike also gets a couple of new features and cosmetic updates.
The company offers the R15 in three new colours - Racing Blue, Thunder Grey, and Darknight - with updated graphics. Its feature list includes a new side stand engine cut-off switch and dual horn setup. Previously, you could opt for an optional rear Metzeler tyre. Now though, it comes as standard fitment. What isn't clear is if its the same brand of tyre.
Powering the bike is a BS6-compliant 155cc single-cylinder liquid-cooled engine that produces 18.6PS at 10,000rpm and 14.1Nm at 8500rpm. That’s 0.7PS and 0.6Nm less compared to the BS4 bike. The bike essentially trades in performance for cleaner tailpipe emissions. What hasn't changed is the 6-speed gearbox and the slipper clutch.
The same goes for the underpinnings too, with the BS6 R15 V3 continuing to use a delta box frame, telescopic front fork and a monoshock. Its braking setup comprises of disc brakes at both ends with dual-channel ABS as standard. We will be riding the bike soon, so stay tuned for our first ride impressions.
