- Swedish bikemaker Cake is known for making high-performance electric dirt bikes.
- The Kalk INK SL is a street-legal dual-purpose electric motorcycle.
- It misses out on the other model’s high-spec underpinnings but continues to use the same drivetrain.
Stockholm based bikemaker Cake has launched an electric dual-purpose motorcycle -- the Kalk INK SL. Priced at USD 10,500 (Rs 8 lakh), the Kalk INK SL is based on the Kalk Ink electric dirt bike and uses the same electric powertrain so performance is a given.

Unlike its dirt bike cousin, the Kalk INK SL gets an LED headlamp, LED tail lamp, LED turn indicators, number plates, and mirrors to help it achieve the road-legal status. It also gets a foot-operated rear brake and an LED instrument console, which is missing on the Kalk INK.

Both share the same electric motor that delivers 10kW. However, the Kalk INK SL gets a smaller rear sprocket for better top speed. It can touch 90kmph compared to the dirt bike’s 80kmph. It gets a 2.6kWh battery pack, which is good enough for up to 3 hours of trail riding or 86km of normal use on a full charge. It also gets two battery regeneration modes to improve range. The battery pack takes 2.5 hours to fully charge.

The Kalk INK SL gets long travel MX suspension and 19-inch spoke aluminium wheels with dual-purpose tyres. Braking is via 220mm discs at both ends. The Kalk INK SL is a lightweight electric bike weighing just 82kg with the battery pack. It has a dirt bike styled narrow 910mm seat height and 300mm of ground clearance.
Given that Cake is a small company making niche electric motorcycles, chances of the bikes being launched in India are very slim.
