We analyse how the TVS X electric scooter fares against the Ola S1 Pro Gen 1 and the Ather 450X on paper
The Ola S1 Pro and the Ather 450X have been the go-to options for anyone looking for sporty e-scooters for a while now. But the TVS X electric scooter has recently made a grand entrance, looking to dethrone them. But, how does it fare against the two, though, on paper? Let’s have a look:
(Note: We are considering the Ola S1 Pro Gen 1 for now, since deliveries for the Gen 2 version are commencing only in mid-September)

In this aspect, the Ola S1 Pro stands out with its higher top speed, but the TVS X is quicker when accelerating from 0-40kmph, making it easier to snake through traffic. The S1 Pro and the Ather 450X have a bigger IDC (Indian Driving Conditions) claimed range compared to the X, with the S1 Pro having the highest range among them which should be a boon for everyday commutes. But the 450X and the X’s battery takes 2 hours less to fully charge, which tilts the everyday practicality factor in their favour.

The TVS X’s twin-spar aluminium frame, which is usually found in motorcycles, is more rigid than the other two scooters’ frame. As far as sporty e-scooters go, this will definitely help the TVS X electric scooter provide sporty handling characteristics. Even Ather’s frame is fairly advanced enough to ensure good agility. And the X and the 450X further trump the Ola S1 Pro in the handling department because of the bigger rear discs which should provide better stopping power on paper.

While the TVS X electric scooter’s kerb weight information is not available as of now, the Ather 450X is lighter than the Ola S1 Pro, which isn’t surprising considering its smaller battery. Also, the X and the 450X’s higher ground clearance should ensure that both e-scooters can tackle bad roads efficiently and the lower seat height should make it accessible for shorter riders.

All three e-scooters get features that we’ve come to expect from e-scooters these days like digital instrument console, smartphone connectivity, navigation, reverse mode, riding modes and more. But, the new TVS X electric scooter blows the other two out of the park with its massive tilt-adjustable 10.5-inch TFT console! Also, it is packed with customisable features unheard of in any other scooters like the ability to customise the layout of different screens including their location, order of icons and more. You can even stream videos on it, and play games as well (of course, while stationary).
But the TVS X does lack a bit of practicality in terms of features because it is impossible to store anything on its floorboard due to its design. The Ola S1 Pro’s floorboard design does help in that regard, but it’s the 450X’s floorboard that offers the most practicality. And the S1 Pro and 450X’s bigger underseat storage space should come in handy for grocery runs.

All in all, the TVS X electric scooter is a halo EV offering from the Hosur-based bikemaker. It's a testament of reaching the absolute limits of current technology in the EV space. That said, the Ola S1 Pro and the Ather 450X aren't too far in terms of crucial features. That, coupled with the lower price point, makes them far more practical options for those looking for an electric scooter that offers style and practicality.
