Hero Group is reported to launch a diesel powered bike in India in the fourth quarter of the next fiscal, according to unconfirmed media reports. The diesel bike will have a 400cc motor that is being tested at ARAI.
In the coming year, we may see more diesel bikes on road as Royal Enfield is also planning to enter in the same segment. The Bullet series bikes are expected to have diesel engine. However, there is no official comment from the company so far.
Already Hero Group quoted out to capture Indian market with the launch of its innovative motorcycles. The company is also planning to enter in overseas market such as North American, African and Latin American countries.
The report is not confirmed by the company but Hero Group again can make a joint venture with new partner, for it the company is in talk with Chennai based firm. If the Hero 400cc diesel bike launch in India it will second diesel bike after Yezdi. Jawa was the first diesel engine motorcycle maker of India but its bikes had been discontinued long back.
It is to be noted that Hero and Honda JV has recently gone apart and from the year 2014 Hero will be working as a separate company. Hero Honda sells Hero Honda Splendor, Hero Honda Hunk, Hero Honda Karizma etc.
