Now gets new features and three dual-tone colour options
Hero MotoCorp has launched the Splendor Xtec 2.0 to celebrate the 30th anniversary of India's best-selling bike, the Splendor. The Jaipur-based bike maker has launched the new Hero Splendor Xtec 2.0 at Rs 82,911 (ex-showroom, Delhi), which is just Rs 3,000 more than the Splendor Xtec.
In the Splendor Xtec 2.0, Hero has offered an all-LED headlight with integrated H-shaped LED DRLs (daytime running lights), and an H-shaped tail light, making it the only 100cc bike to have an LED headlight. For perspective, the previous version had a halogen headlight and an off-set LED DRL. The Splendor Xtec 2.0 also has a hazard light feature and a dedicated switch, which weren’t there in the previous version. What’s also new is the introduction of three dual-tone colour options including Matte Grey, Gloss Black, and Gloss Red. The bike also comes with new graphics.
Additionally, the Splendor Xtec 2.0 retains the same full-LCD instrument console with Bluetooth connectivity that shows calls and SMS alerts, as the Splendor Xtec. It also has a USB charging port. Other features include an electric starter, a side stand engine cut-off feature, and an Idle Stop-Start System (i3S), which helps in conserving fuel by automatically switching off the engine when it idles for a while in traffic.
In terms of underpinnings and hardware, the Splendor Xtec 2.0 remains unchanged. It continues to be powered by a 97.2cc air-cooled single-cylinder engine that produces 8.02PS at 8000rpm and 8.05Nm at 6000rpm, paired with a 4-speed transmission. It delivers a claimed mileage of 73kmpl and has a fuel tank capacity of 9.8 litres.
The Hero Splendor Plus Xtec competes with other 100-110cc commuter bikes including the Honda Shine 100, Hero Passion Plus and top-end TVS Radeon.
