The Urban Classic goes 200km on a single charge with a top speed of 130kmph
- Evoke is a Chinese electric bikemaker, specialising in performance-oriented electric motorcycles.
- It was claimed the brand was building an India-specific bike.
- This Urban Classic is priced at USD 8,499, which is roughly Rs 6.32 lakh (excluding Indian taxes).
India’s electric two-wheeler space is still quite untapped. Nearly 99 percent of the market is flooded with electric scooters that offer low-range solutions, enough to get you through your daily commute. In the motorcycle space, only Revolt has so far managed to deliver on something promising. Ultraviolette, Tork and all of the others are still waiting to bring out their products. Joining the latter few is Evoke Motorcycles from China, whose Urban Classic electric bike has just been spotted on our shores.
Evoke isn’t your cheap Chinese electric bikemaker that makes low-speed products. In fact, it takes pride in being one of the fastest electric manufacturers in Asia. The Urban Classic is one of the two electric bikes that Evoke produces. It’s capable of clocking a top speed of 130kmph with its city range being an impressive 200km.
While the bike has been spotted in India, our guess is that it has been brought down to show prospective dealers what the brand is all about. The Urban Classic is unlikely to be the first bike from Evoke as the brand is already working on a motorcycle fit to take on the 125-150cc commuter space. The new platform is codenamed Project M1, seemingly spawning multiple models with reasonable performance. More details on the brand’s India aspirations in our story here.
It will still be interesting though to find out just how the Indian masses take to the Urban Classic, if it is brought now. The bike carries an extremely premium price tag for which the performance is barely capable of beating a 200cc motorcycle. Stay tuned to this space for more updates.
