The Imperiale 400 will soon become Benelli’s first BS6-compliant motorcycle in India. It is expected to go on sale next month, once BS6 emissions norms are implemented across the country. Last month, Benelli had hiked the prices of the Imperiale 400 by Rs 10,000 to Rs 20,000, resulting in the base variant retailing at 1.79 lakh (ex-showroom) Expect the Italian bikemaker to increase the prices further once the BS6 version of the motorcycle is launched.
Benelli launched the Imperiale 400 last year at an introductory price of Rs 1.69 lakh (ex-showroom), due to which it received a phenomenal response from Indian two-wheeler enthusiasts. In fact, the brand has received more than 4,000 bookings for the Imperiale 400! Whether the classic motorcycle will keep the same momentum after the price hike or not is yet to be seen.
The Imperiale 400 is a brilliant motorcycle to ride in the city as well as out on the highways. It offers a comfortable riding position and is powered by a gem of a motor! The 374cc, fuel-injected, single-cylinder, air-cooled motor churns out 21PS at 5500rpm and 29Nm at 4500rpm. However, expect the BS6 version to offer slightly different power and torque figure compared to the BS4 version. It features a tubular double cradle frame with a 41mm telescopic fork and twin shock absorbers at the rear.
In terms of rivals, it goes up against the Royal Enfield Classic 350 and the gorgeous Jawa. Wondering which of these bikes is the ideal one for you? Well, head here for our detailed comparison review.
