It Could be the seventh offering from the Hungarian-Chinese bikemaker
There’s no doubt Keeway has bold plans for India. It has promised a portfolio of eight motorcycles, of which, six have already hit the floor. From the pending two, we know one is a 125cc motorcycle and we think this SR125 scrambler-style bike seen parked at a dealership recently could be the next model from the bikemaker to debut.
The retro-scrambler theme of the SR125 looks sporty and it loosely reminds us of a modified Yamaha RX100. Small round halogen headlight, circular orange indicators and taillight really tie the reto brief down pat. However, the mono-pod display is a digital unit and whether or not it is Bluetooth compatible is yet to be seen.
The fuel tank looks unusually large and so does the pillion side of the ribbed scrambler-style seat. We wish the proportions of this motorcycle were on the leaner side, it would have looked delicious.
While the engine specifications of the SR125 are still under wraps, its single-cylinder, air-cooled engine could likely make around 10PS and 8.9Nm, similar to what we see on Qianjiang Motor’s 125cc international model.
Suspension duty is managed by beefy telescopic fork dressed in scrambler-stye gaiters and twin rear shocks. Meanwhile, braking is handled by single discs at either end and rider safety secured by single-channel ABS. It’s also seen sporting wire-spoked rims which come shod with dual sport tyres.
With an overview of the motorcycle in place, wouldn’t it be interesting to see this 125cc scrambler get launched in India? If Keeway’s pricing strategy is to be considered, the SR125 could cost around Rs 2.10 lakh (ex-showroom). A little too expensive for a 125cc motorcycle, wouldn’t you agree?
