New footage gives a closer look at the Himalayan 450’s affordable alternative

The Royal Enfield Himalayan 450 has been spotted on Indian roads as well as abroad, but now we have exclusive footage of its sibling, the Scram 450, being tested on our roads. This is the second spotting of the motorcycle, and the new shots reveal some interesting details.

The test mule was heavily camouflaged, so it is hard to make out whether there are any changes to the fuel tank from that of Himalayan 450. However, it is unlikely to be the case. That said, there are a bunch of differences compared to the upcoming liquid-cooled ADV.

For starters, the Royal Enfield Scram 450’s test mule featured a telescopic fork instead of the USD unit seen on the Himalayan. Furthermore, the Scram is rolling on 17-inch alloy wheels on both ends instead of the 21/17-inch, wire-spoke rims. And lastly, there’s the single-piece saddle instead of the split seat seen on the Himalayan.

Of course, there’s no windshield or the side braces from the Himalayan or even the raised fender. However, the Scram 411 shares its high rear-end with the Himalayan 450 and comes with the same indicator-integrated taillights.

The liquid-cooled, single-cylinder engine will be the same as the Himalayan 450. It could produce around 40PS and come with a six-speed transmission, making it apt for mile-munching too.

Royal Enfield could introduce the Scram 450 next year with a price tag of Rs 2.6 lakh (ex-showroom). Though it doesn’t have a direct rival, the Husqvarna Svartpilen 250 comes closest in terms of price.
